A distinguished Professor and Program Coordinator at George Brown College’s School of Hospitality Tourism Management in Toronto. Her journey encompasses roles as a Restaurateur for Canada’s iconic CN Tower’s 360 Revolving Restaurant, a Certified Chef, a Five-Level Certified Sommelier, an International Wine Judge, a Wine and Beverage Journalist, and an AGCO Licensed Import Agent.

She also serves as a Brand Ambassador for The Wines of Vinho Verde Portugal. Her current research based on Canadian Sparkling Wine has been published in academic journals in Canada and Europe. Beyond her professional achievements, she dedicates her time to philanthropy as the President of Grapes for Humanity Canada.

Doris has served the Board of Directors for The Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers and currently serves the Canadian Association of Foodservice Professionals Board of Directors as Faculty Liaison.

She also holds the title of Gentle Dame, knighted by Chateau Magnol in Bordeaux, France.

Passionate about encouraging tourism activity leading to positive change.

Passionate about Hospitality, I help Hotels improve their results by optimizing their revenue, and developing their team skills, resulting on maximized performance, more motivated team members and improved guests reviews.

Usual pains I encounter & how to fix them: Many Hotels underutilize their room inventory and outlets, leaving large amounts of money on the table.  Besides, the high turnover of staff means it’s challenging to keep up with training and motivation. Thanks to my 20 years of professional experience in the industry, I help hotels improve their RevPAR and GOPPAR by updating processes, changing attitudes and aptitudes, upskilling teams along the way.

Extensive experience as an Associate Professor, teaching tourism and hospitality subjects at various universities and hospitality schools.

Co-founder of Someday Holiday, she coordinates the MBA in Tourism and Hospitality Management at BEBS. She is also a jury member at ESADE Business School. She has experience in tourism, education, and postproduction. She also holds a Master’s in International Business Management from UAB.

Some of the Tourism skills and experience that would enable me to contribute positively includes my 15 years of experience in a variety of fields including Hospitality, Events Organization, and Tourism & Leisure. I have led teams, motivated commercial agents and developed new sustainable strategies for various touristic enterprises in Spain, the Republic of Maldives and in the Netherlands. I am a highly motivated and enthusiastic hands-on person with significant international experience and well spoken in four different languages. As well as being a leader,I am a good team player, based on a keen understanding of the importance and interconnection of each role within an organization.
