If you have decided to continue your studies with one of the onsite programs we offer at BEBS, then coming to live in Barcelona will provide an exciting challenge for you in coming months.

10 advantages of living in Barcelona

Are you ready to discover the capital of Catalonia? Do you know what to expect? Here are some of the many advantages of living in Barcelona:

Its wide variety of monuments

The Sagrada Familia is the best known, but it’s far from the only monument you won’t want to miss during your stay here.

The cathedral, Casa Batlló and La Pedrera are some of the must-sees on any list, which should also feature outdoor spaces such as Parc Güell and Parc de la Ciutadella. Your options are many and varied, all you have to do is choose the ones that best suit your preferences.

Its mass transit network

Barcelona has a train, metro and bus network that will make your daily life much easier. The bus and metro, which is open on Saturday night, will easily let you go anywhere in the city.

Meanwhile, the train is a great option if you want to visit other towns. Sitges, Castelldefels, El Masnou and Vilanova i la Geltrú are some of the beach towns that you may want to visit during the summer.

Its sidewalk terraces

Barcelona has a wide variety of sidewalk terraces for all tastes, where you can enjoy a vermouth, very typical in the city, or eat something on a summer evening.

They will undoubtedly provide a place to meet up with friends in the spring and summer, and even on some sunny Sundays during the rest of the year.

Its cultural offerings

Museums, theaters, cinemas… We would be remiss not to mention Barcelona’s extensive cultural offerings among the city’s attractions.

If you want to discover the city’s history, if you feel like spending the morning in an art gallery, or if you’d rather go to a concert before or after dinner, you’ll find options that suit your every need.

Its free museums the first Sunday of the month

While we’re on the subject, did you know that some museums in Barcelona have free admission on the first Sunday of every month?

They include the Picasso Museum, the Barcelona Maritime Museum and the Montjuïc Castle, but there are others. Check the times so you don’t miss out on this monthly freebie.

Its neighborhood festivals

You may have heard of the Gracia festival and its decorated streets, but the truth is that every neighborhood in Barcelona has its own street fair.

Don’t miss out on their activities, since these events will introduce you to various areas of the city and their traditions. It’s a different way of getting to know Barcelona, don’t you think?

Its great variety of events

Every year, Barcelona hosts a wide range of different events, including the Mobile World Congress, multiple music festivals, such as Primavera Sound, and food fairs that fill the streets.

We recommend you stay informed about all the options available, especially in spring and summer.

Cycling to get around the city

If you want to forget about the buses and metro, or simply want to cut down on travel time, Bicing is an excellent option that will let you travel by bike whenever you need to.

The views from Turó de la Rovira

If you want to take in a panoramic view of the city, Turó de la Rovira is one visit you can’t pass up. If you also like history, you have one more reason to come to Turó de la Rovira, where you will find the remains of an air defense battery that was built during the Civil War.

Its diverse cuisine

To round out this list, we have to mention the diversity of cuisine you will find in Barcelona, ranging from wineries in which to sip your vermouth, to restaurants with typical or international cuisine.

However, our advice is to avoid the most touristy areas, where the restaurants are usually more expensive and offer worse quality, and to check the reviews on Google before choosing a place.

If you are ready to come to Barcelona, all that’s left to do is to choose one of the Master’s, postgraduate courses or MBA we have to offer at BEBS. Explore all the options in the Programs section.
